lyrics

broken a/c unit pumped stale air into our ride to the beach
every single sticky mess in your coughing two door car
went straight liquid in all that heat
so we opened up the windows letting scrawled on looseleaf paper
pick at bits of the ocean breeze
under my breath i must have said, "retreat, retreat"

you said an army of ten million doesn't improvise

one time i printed off a list of everything that i'd eventually
you stuck it to the wall in your kitchen with a thumb tack over the sink
you used to waste so much hot water wiping sugar of every inch
of every spoon you'd use
hot steam off dirty dishes eventually smeared the laser jet ink

i pin a name tag to my chest with my name written backwards

there's so much sugar in my coffee
i can feel my teeth when they split
they break like geodes under hammers and send sparkling colors
through my bleeding gums to the tarmac
i sop it up with paper towel, it's leaking, leaking, leaking
i could bleed one thousand times and the floor's still sticky as tacks
